The Community Policing Support Program is an initiative of The Asia Foundation and the New Zealand Police, funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT). It supports the Policia Nacional de Timor-Leste (PNTL) to achieve a locally relevant and sustainable model of community policing. The program is being implemented in 11 Municipals; Viqueque, Manufahi, Covalima, Liquica, Dili, Ermera, Ainaro, Aileu, Bobonaro, Baucau, and Manatuto.

Belun is responsible for implementing the program in 5 of these Municipalities; Dili, Covalima, Liquica, Manufahi, and Viqueque. This program is supported by New Zeland Aid.

The objective of Belun’s Community Policing Support Program is to train, support and provide technical advice to community representatives of the Community Policing Council. This program also aims to strengthen the relationship between the community and the police in order to prevent crime and social problems that affect people’s lives.

More information about the program can be found on the Asia Foundation website
