In September, Belunai??i??s Early Warning, Early Response (EWER) system continued monitoring for violent incidents and changes to the securityAi??situationAi??across Timor-Leste.Ai??132 incidents were recorded in September, which is the highest single-month total since the EWER system was established in 2009. The dry season is typically a time when many families hold cultural ceremonies, and alcohol consumption and intra-family violence often increase as a result. September was no exception, as an unusually high number of alcohol and family-related incidents were recorded. Also, there was nearly one serious incident between the Military Police (F-FDTL) and Border Police (PNTL) in Bobonaru Municipality.
