In March, Belun’s Early Warning, Early Response (EWER) system continued monitoring for violent incidents and changes to the security situation in Timor-Leste. Field monitors recorded 141 violent incidents, including 41 mostly minor incidents of electoral violence related the March 20th Presidential Election. Incident totals have increased over the past four months, however the severity of the incidents has been decreasing over the same period, with fewer deaths and serious injuries recorded. EWER monitors have also recorded a decrease in Martial and Ritual Arts Group-related violence over the past few months.
