In June, Belun’s Early Warning, Early Response (EWER) system continued monitoring for violent incidents and changes to the security situation in Timor-Leste. EWER monitoring recorded 131 violent incidents, including 51 in Dili – the highest total recorded in the city thus far in 2016. As has been the trend in 2016, five slingshot arrow attacks were perpetrated by unknown actors in Dili.Ai?? Eleven incidents involving secondary school students were also recorded throughout the country,Ai??five of which could be linked to disputes between rival members of now-banned Martial Arts Groups.
