In February, Belun’s Early Warning, Early Response (EWER) system continued monitoring for violent incidents and changes to the security situation in Timor-Leste. Field monitors recorded 124 incidents, including 16 incidents at schools, which is nearly three times the monthly average over the past year. There were also four incidents related to disputes about politics, a figure which will surely increase in March as a result of the Presidential election and campaign period. In a positive development, police-initiated incidents have been rare since so far in 2017.Ai??For more details and a statistical breakdown of all incidents recorded in February, please read full situation review.
