In August, Belun’s Early Warning, Early Response (EWER) system continued monitoring for violent incidents and changes to the security situation in Timor-Leste.Ai??EWER monitors recorded 134 violent incidents, including nine incidents related to water access – the highest such total that has ever been recorded by the EWER system – and 23 incidents that stemmed from land-related disputes.Ai??EWER monitors alsoAi??recorded unusually high incident totals inAi??Aileu, Baucau and Ermera, and serious incidents between F-FDTL and PNTL personnel inAi??Ainaro andAi??Bobonaro. Unlike the vast majority of months so far in 2016, no slingshot arrow attacks were recorded in Dili in August.
