Land Mediation and Resolution Dispute (LMRD) Program, seeks to build sustainable peace through the reduction and resolution of land disputes in Timor-Leste. This program was funded by the European Union (EU) through the Haburas Foundation program of land and housing justice. Funding was also made available for this project from Timor-Leste Government, through a Civil Society Grant under the Prime Ministry Office. The project was also supported by the GIZ Peace Fund.
The program worked in partnership with the Land and Property National Directorate and Registration Service focusing on the unsolved (land and property list). Disputants were directed to Belun for assistance and mediation.
Belun provided technical assistance, mediation and mediation training. The program acquired a great deal of practice knowledge and experience in land dispute resolution and mediation.
Incidents of land disputes continue to be monitored by Belun’s EWER System in collaborating with LMRD Program.
